Jus-rol, Berwick - terms of reference for a workplace Learning Committee

This learning policy is a local agreement covering the Jus-rol site at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Jus-rol is a food manufacturing plant employing approximately 330 members of staff. The joint learning policy includes guidelines for a workplace Learning Committee.

The Lifelong Learning Committee:

• Will comprise members from Usdaw, Amicus and General Mills Berwick Ltd, and will include at least one senior member of the management team.
• Will endeavour to develop and maintain learning processes which meet the specific needs of employees in terms of overcoming barriers to learning e.g. shift patterns, length of course etc.
• Will actively promote relevant matters relating to all Lifelong Learning activities, and relevant training initiatives.
• Will ensure Union Learning Representatives are:
• Given reasonable paid release to attend meetings and carry out their Union Learning Representative responsibilities, in line with the statutory rights outlined in the ACAS Code of Practice and appendix 1 (General Mills Berwick Ltd Time Off/Facilities Policy).
