A joint policy between Dairy Crest (Maelor) and Usdaw on lifelong learning
Dairy Crest and Usdaw are committed to the principle of Lifelong Learning and are confident of the benefits of Lifelong Learning to both the Company and individual employees.
Dairy Crest believes that the changing nature of work means it is necessary for all employees to learn new skills and update existing skills on a continual basis.
Usdaw believes that in a world of work that is continually changing the best security our members can have is the possibility of continually developing their skills and talents.
Therefore, Dairy Crest and Usdaw are committed to encouraging and supporting a culture of learning and continuing Personal Development at Maelor.
Both Usdaw and Dairy Crest believe that Personal and Career Development complements Job-specific Training and Development. Job-specific Training involves the training needed to perform an employee's current tasks. Career Development involves the training that helps prepare for the jobs of the future, and Personal Development concerns an individual's broader development. Often these forms of training and development overlap and enhance each other. Dairy Crest and Usdaw aim to encourage and support employees to engage in a broad range of learning opportunities and to develop their own individual potential.
The Company and Usdaw are committed to making learning as accessible as possible for all employees by using the on-site Learning Centre and other facilities. We aim to harness and maximise opportunities available through external local and national initiatives, such as Individual Learning Accounts and Learn Direct, as well as opportunities available through internal Company training programmes.
This policy applies to all staff regardless of their sex, race, disability or employee status.
