Lifelong Learning in Scotland

The Scottish Parliament is responsible for the Scottish education system. Consequently it differs from the system in the rest of the UK.

The Scottish Executive has established a Scottish Union Learning Fund. Usdaw has received funding from this fund to develop our Lifelong Learning Campaign in Scotland.

Initially this has been provided to pilot making Learning accessible for Usdaw members in Safeways. Usdaw intends to use any further funding that becomes available to spread access to learning to other companies.

The system for funding Basic Skills/Essential Skills also differs in Scotland. Further information on this is available on this site.
