Please help Usdaw improve school holiday childcare

14 July 2008

Usdaw are lobbying the Government for more places in school holiday clubs for children up to age 14, and for the clubs to be affordable and to cover a full working day.

It is an issue that many parents have told me causes them serious problems - especially in the long summer holidays.

Please help us make the case to Government by letting me know your experience:

  • Do you have trouble taking the time off work that you need in school holidays?
  • Have you had difficulty in finding local, affordable childcare that your children enjoy and which covers your full working day?
  • If you have found good and affordable childcare for the holidays, how does this help you?

Let me know your views and I will pass them directly on to the Government ministers to help us make our case.

Please send your responses to: parentsandcarers@usdaw.org.uk

If you are having difficulty with childcare, Usdaw's leaflet (Helping you with childcare - Leaflet 345) may be able to help:

Many thanks for your help and I will let you know how the campaign goes.

Best wishes

John Hannett
General Secretary
