Respect for Shopworkers Day – Wednesday 11 July 200726 June 2007
Usdaw’s Freedom From Fear Campaign seeks to prevent violence, threats and abuse against shopworkers. This year we are organising a Respect for Shopworkers Day to highlight these important issues and raise awareness amongst shopworkers, customers, employers, local councils, politicians and the police. The Freedom From Fear Campaign has so far delivered:
These achievements were only possible because of the tremendous support the campaign has received from reps, activists and members across the country. I am writing to ask you to get involved this year and help deliver a high-profile campaign day. Here are four things you can do: 1. Complete and return the reps survey, which will provide us with crucial information to evidence our campaign. 2. Use the retail staff survey to gather evidence from members and non-members and help with your recruitment and retention activities. 3. Organise a street stall on or near Respect for Shopworkers Day and order materials using the downloadable order form. 4. Lobby your MP for support for our campaign and to get action from your local council and the police on dealing with anti-social behaviour. For more details on how to get involved in these activities, please see the briefings enclosed in the downloadable campaign pack. I hope that you are able to help. For further information please do not hesitate to contact David Williams or Gary Arthurs in the Politics Office on 0161 249 2452 or e-mail: freedomfromfear@usdaw.org.uk. Best wishes. Yours sincerely
John Hannett
