Safety Net Journal Issue 7

National Stress Network

By Tony Larkin

Since its inception in the mid 90's and the arrival of its website in 2001 the National Stress Network has gone from strength to strength in its fight to make people aware of the danger of stress in the workplace.

The Network aims to raise awareness and to link with other organisations seeking to eliminate bullying, harassment and work-related stress. It campaigns for:

  • the recognition of stress-related illness as an industrial injury.
  • The stricter control and management of stress in the workplace.
  • The recognition of bullying as a serious workplace hazard, which Employers have a duty to prevent.
  • Dignity at work within a caring supportive culture.
The network will be holding a conference on Saturday 10th November 2007 in Birmingham, for more information go to http://www.workstress.net/home.htm
