Safety Net Journal Issue 6

HSE/HSC to merge

The Health and Safety Commission (HSC) is moving to the next stage of its consultation process on the merger of HSC and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The proposed merger will bring HSC's governance arrangements in line with best practice in similar public bodies.

According to HSC, the merged body will build on the values of HSC and HSE, - independent in its advice and decision-making; open and inclusive and professional in its approach.

The TUC has welcomed the proposal, providing the governing body of the merged agency continues the full involvelment of representatives of employers' organsisations and trades unions in a similar way to the current HSC.
