TUC National Inspection Day – 25 October
The TUC is calling on all union safety reps top take part in National Inspection Day on the Wednesday of European Health and Safety Week. As the day coincides with the HSE Better Backs campaign, this year the TUC is asking reps to concentrate on musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace.
The Better Backs campaign is aimed at prevention of work-related back injury and at making sure that people who de develop back injuries stay active and don't lose their jobs.
For the first time, the HSE have developed tools exclusively for the use of trade union health and safety representatives to help them inspect the workplace ans support return to work for workers who do develop back pain.
The TUC wants health and safety reps throughout the country to use the HSE resources to inspect their workplace on National Inspection Day - www.hse.gov.uk/msd/campaigns/pdf/manualhandling.pdf
