Usdaw launches new Health and Safety web pages
27 October 2005
Retail union Usdaw has launched new web pages designed to keep its army of health and safety reps across the UK up to date with the latest information so their colleagues can work safe.
The pages are located on the union’s web site www.usdaw.org.uk featuring a dedicated discussion forum, SafetyNet - a regular safety rep newsletter - and a contact form to send messages to the H&S team.
Reps, and any of the Usdaw’s 341,000 members, can also sign up for regular e-mail updates on health and safety policies, legislation, initiatives and campaigns the union are running.
“I have always appreciated the outstanding work our Health and Reps do keeping their colleagues safe in workplaces around the country,” says Usdaw General Secretary John Hannett. “So these new web pages are designed to make sure that work is properly recognised and reps can pass round information on good practice in their workplaces via the discussion forum.”
“Health and safety is a vitally important issue for our members and Usdaw has been at the forefront of the Labour Movement in pioneering new initiatives and adopting best practice in the retail sector. The reps are the vital link that makes it all work and I’m confident these new web pages will prove very popular making sure that the safety of our members get the top priority it requires.”
The address for the web pages is www.usdaw.org.uk/healthandsafety/.
