Vehicles in the workplace - free leaflets

10 December 2009

HSE has published a series of free information leaflets on the health and safety of vehicles in the workplace.

The leaflets cover issues that affect all people in workplaces where there are vehicles - not only drivers and warehouse personnel but also other workers and members of the public in delivery yards and car parks.

Vehicles in and around the workplace continue to be a major cause of fatal and major injuries. Since 1998/99 there has been an average of 61 fatalities each year.

There have also been well over 2150 major injuries and over 4270 injuries requiring more that 3 days off work in the same period.

The information sheets cover different aspects of vehicles in the workplace including;

Barriers - Car Parking - Lorry and Van Parking - Hi Vis Clothing - Lighting - Pedestrians -

One way Systems - Preparing for Deliveries - Reversing - Segregation - Signage -

Speed Limits - Road Markings - Road Surfaces

They will assist Usdaw reps and members in any workplace where vehicles are present.
