TUC safety advice on migrant workers

27 June 2007

The TUC has issued a 12 page booklet called ‘Safety and Migrant Workers: A practical guide for safety representatives’.

The booklet covers health and safety issues for migrant workers who work here on a permanent, temporary or seasonal basis and who are either here with permits, on holiday or without the protection of legal status.

The guide covers thing such as:

  • Risk assessment
  • Welfare and First Aid provision
  • Accident reporting
  • Personal Protective Equipment

There is also guidance on enforcement of legislation and case studies of how unions are organising migrant workers.

Copies of the guide are available from the Health and Safety Section at Central Office or from the TUC website
