Food and drink industry rep? Don't miss annual H&S conference04 August 2006
The annual H&S conference organised jointly by the industry trade unions, the employers' organisations and the HSE takes place in Chipping Campden on 25 October. The Conference brings together safety reps and management from the food and drink manufacturing industries to discuss current health and safety issues. As in previous years it is being held at the Chipping Campden Food Research Association. It is supported by the four main unions in the industry (Usdaw, TGWU, BFAWU and GMB) as well as the Food and Drink Federation and the HSE. This year sponsorship is provided by Nestle. The conference is chaired by Doug Russell, Usdaw's H&S Officer. The packed agenda includes a presentation by Sayeed Khan, HSC Commissioner, on the management of occupational health and rehabilitation, discussion on the prevention of back injuries (including a report on the recent Food Backs 2006 initiative), information on the HSE's Moving Goods Safely project and on H&S in the multicultural food industry and an update on the new Noise at Work Regulations. Delegate fees for safety reps are once again reduced to £70 plus vat - a saving of more than 50% of the standard delegate fee. Safety reps in the food and dairy industries are urged to attend. All conference fees and expenses must be paid by either the employer or the branch. For further details and registration form click here.
