Working at Height

Falls from Height are the most common cause of fatal injury and the scond most common cause of major injury to employees, accounting for around 15% of all such injuries to employees.

New Work at Height Regulations 2005 came into force on 6 April 2005. “Work at Height” means:

  • Work in any place, including a place at or below ground level;
  • Obtaining access to or egress from such place while at work, except by a staircase in a permanent workplace.

The guidance attached will help reps to prevent Falls from Height in their workplace, see also HSEs web pages on Falls from Height.
