Pay deal gets thumbs up

07 August 2008

Members at Unichem Ltd, part of the Alliance Boots group, have voted overwhelmingly to accept an improved pay offer from the company.

The deal will see all hourly rates and salaries increase by 3.3 per cent from April until November 2008. An additional ten pence will be added to the current hourly rate and salaries for the period from November until 31 May 2009.

Other terms and conditions were also improved. “All credit to the negotiating team and the reps,” said national officer Bill Snell who led the negotiations. “We had to ballot for industrial action at one stage because talks had reached an impasse.

“I know our reps also recruited a lot of new members, around 350 in all, before and after the deal which is an indication of just how hard the Unichem reps have worked during these very difficult negotiations.”
