Co-operative retail logistics national negotiating team on course14 May 2008The impressive surroundings of Wortley Hall in Yorkshire provided an ideal setting for the bargaining skills training course for the national negotiating committee members at Co-op Retail Logistics. The three-day residential course took a close look at all the stages of pay negotiations, from building support from the membership, preparing the claim and meeting management. “It was an excellent course, very involved, and easy to understand,” said Terry Hamp from the Alfreton warehouse. Bob Jones from Chelston agreed: “I found it very informative and felt more confident on how to conduct myself while in negotiations. I found the group was friendly and there was a good atmosphere. The accommodation, food and surroundings were very good. More training like this would make our job as reps that much easier.” Rob Bentley, Alfreton supervisor, said: “The course showed what it is like going in to negotiations with difficult people. It also showed you how to prepare, plan and execute negotiations not just for wages but as a method for any negotiations that you may have to do.” Contact Details Media and Communications Department Ph: 0161 224 2804 Fax: 0161 249 2490 communications@usdaw.org.uk |
