Branch officers check out tailor made course in warrington

12 May 2008

Five day residency for new reps

Eighteen newly elected branch officers made the most of Usdaw’s special five day residential course in January held at the national training centre in Warrington.

The course looks at how the union is run at branch, divisional and national level. It also includes presentations from senior central office staff on how their departments work and how branch officers fit into the bigger picture.

Reps also get to meet both the general secretary and his deputy which includes a question and answer session. Tesco rep Ellen Shaw said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the course. It was really useful to look behind the scenes on how the union operates. I’d recommend it.”
