Home Get Active Successful Organising
Can you meet the stand down challenge?10 October 2007Would you like to put your recruitment skills to the test? Then why not speak to your area organiser about working as a stand down rep. Usdaw has negotiated a number of stand down agreements with national companies such as Tesco, Sainsbury's, Co-op, Morrisons and Poundland. If you work for one of these companies, speak to your area organiser and find out how you can get involved in stand down recruiting in your division. The amount of time out differs from agreement to agreement and officials will use the terms of your deal to negotiate a set period of paid time out from your own workplace to take part in recruitment activities in your area. Each rep is trained, developed and supported by the union and is given their own recruitment programme to work to with guidance from a local official. Usdaw has also negotiated a number of local agreements for stand down facilities with companies such as Woolworths, Boots Logistics, Unichem, Wincanton and Asda Northern Ireland. For more information contact your local office. Contact Details Media and Communications Department Ph: 0161 224 2804 Fax: 0161 249 2490 communications@usdaw.org.uk |
