Youth Policy - The Future of Usdaw17 October 2007With more than 50,000 members aged under 26 Usdaw has one of the biggest union youth sections in the UK. This is set to increase as more and more students work their way through further education. The challenge for the union is to recruit today’s students and other young workers, many of whom work part-time, to ensure these members are given the advice and support they need. Young activists are also reminded that the national youth weekend will be held at the national training centre in Warrington from November 10–11. This is a residential weekend held exclusively for members aged 26 and below. It is a mix of workshops, speakers and entertainment held in an informal and friendly setting All costs are met by the union including travel and accommodation and in the past it has been the launch pad for many activists to broaden their involvement in Usdaw.
