National winner of the 2005 Union Learning Rep Award - Alison Edwards21 January 2006Alison is a branch secretary of the Northumberland Co-op group and persuaded local store managers that Lifelong Learning would boost the skill base of their staff in the very intensely competitive retail sector. Alison has encouraged colleagues onto courses which they told the judging panel 'changed their lives' and her colleagues said she is always on the end of the phone offering advice.
“Lifelong Learning is a key part of Usdaw's work with more than 10,000 Usdaw members getting back into education across the UK so I was pleased to do my bit in the North East,” said Alison. “It's been a real privilege to help people get access to courses that have quite literally changed their lives.”
