National winner of the 2005 Equalities Award - Jayne Justin21 January 2006Jayne picked up the 2005 Equalities Award for promoting equality in her workplace. Jayne's outstanding record in making sure equality is a reality at the Boots site in Nottingham has led to her being elected as convenor, representing her work colleagues in negotiations. She has recruited a large number of black, Asian and Eastern European colleagues and this is especially impressive as many of them are agency workers who are the most difficult to persuade to join a union.
“Equalities is a key part of Usdaw's work reaching out to members from different minority groups to make sure they get fully involved in the union's work,” said Jayne. “It's been a real privilege to play a part in making sure equalities is right at the top of Usdaw's agenda in the workplace.”
