Mary Harker, 2005 Usdaw Organising Officer, had completed all her arranged visits for the day in Middlesborough town centre.

Spotting a Poundland store, she decided to do a cold call visit and arranged to speak to staff. There were eight in the store and all eight joined up. One new member, Joan Loughran, was keen to become the rep so Mary set the wheels in motion straight away.
Mary came out of Poundland with a "Sterling" finish.
