50% membership in two hours

07 July 2005

In a small market town in Suffolk, membership in a Woolworths store has risen by 50% after a visit by Organising Officer Tracey Low.

"I was given good facilities by the Sudbury store manager, where everyone was encouraged to come and see me. After news broke about the details of their pay review, I organised around that issue to secure the 50% membership within two hours. I also recruited Emma Clarke to become the new shop steward," said Tracey.

With further visits planned, and with Emma on site, we are hoping to have everyone joined up.

This was a store that initially knew nothing about the union and now they are well equipped to resolve their issues and become more active.
