2005 will be the year Usdaw's Supporting Parents and Carers campaign makes a real impact on the work/life balance of union members across the UK and to mark the event the first issue of 2005 Arena features the latest stage of this exciting new initiative.
The campaign has already attracted widespread support and with three special 'spotlight' events planned it looks set to stay in the public eye during the coming months.
The Jan/Feb issue also takes a close look at the perils of 'no win no fee' deals and contrasts those with the success of the Usdaw Legal Plus service which continues to go from strength to strength with personal testimonies from Usdaw members showing just how important this free service is.
Other subjects covered include bank holiday working, lifelong learning, recruitment, young activists, and the Morrisons/Safeway merger and how reps are coming together. There are workplace features on Kellogg's Wrexham and IKEA Rotherham, and advanced notice of the forthcoming North West campaign in Marks and Spencer stores. More news and regular features complete the mix making Arena the essential read for all Usdaw members and potential members.
