What’s the Labour Government ever done for us?Date: 17 April 2008
Introduction by John Hannett, Usdaw General SecretaryI am delighted to be publishing this booklet that outlines what our Labour Government has delivered for us all. I am proud that Usdaw has worked with the Labour Government to make real and significant gains for working people. The last 11 years have seen enormous improvements in public services, in rights at work and in the economy. There is no doubt that people in work and pensioners are much better off. Actions speak louder than words and Labour's record in Government speaks for itself, as you can see from the successes highlighted in this booklet. Actions also speak louder than words for the Tories. Their record in government was one of economic incompetence, unemployment, rising poverty and public services starved of investment. The Usdaw members on pages 23 and 24 are typical of the hard-working people who have gained so much from Labour and would have so much to lose under the Tories. This booklet demonstrates why we need to retain a Labour Government and win a fourth term in power, by giving you the facts that you won't hear in the media. I will let the facts speak for themselves.
