Europe - the implications for UsdawDate: 07 April 2000
An Executive Council Statement to the 2000 Annual Delegate Meeting. Europe is playing an increasing role in our lives at work. European legislation and the Labour Government's implementation of the Social Chapter have delivered great improvements for Usdaw's members. Section 1 sets out some of these concrete achievements. Section 2 sets out some of the opportunities that exist for further improvements and how members can help campaign for them. Section 3 sets out the effects that European Monetary Union is having already on the UK economy and the sectors in which Usdaw organises. Section 4 sets out for members the arguments for and against Britain joining European Monetary Union without adopting a specific policy or recommendation in order that members can decide for themselves. Throughout the whole document we seek to assess the opportunities and problems that may occur as a result of European Monetary Union, whether Britain joins the Single Currency or not, and assesses the actions that Usdaw will need to take in order to protect and advance our members' interests. Europe - the implications for Usdaw was correct at date of publication April 2000. Download File: If you do not have the software to download this attachment you can download it here.
