How you can get more involved04 October 2007Being an Usdaw rep can be a very rewarding, interesting and worthwhile position. It’s not an easy role, but Usdaw’s education and training opportunities can make even the most nervous person confident and informed. Do you know anyone in your workplace who just needs that little bit of persuading to take on one of the many roles within the Union? Have a look at the various roles Usdaw offers and consider whether you can take on more responsibility. Alternatively one of your colleagues might be interested in getting more involved. Remember Usdaw is full of ordinary working people making a real difference in their workplaces by giving their time, energy and commitment to make the world of work a fairer and better place to be. RecruitmentThe lifeblood of the Union, and with more than 80,000 new members signed up every year Usdaw reps are clearly expert recruiters. Health and safetyA vital issue for all workers. Workplaces with well-organised safety reps are safer than unorganised sites. Looking after our membersRepresenting members at grievance or disciplinary hearings is a bread-and-butter issue for Usdaw. You can play your part to ensure fairness at work, inform your colleagues of the procedures and offer help and advice on a range of work-related issues.
Young workersThe Union's future and, with more than 250,000 workers aged under 26 employed in Usdaw sectors, the potential for growth is massive.
