Activists visit House of Commons

Mike Brewer, North Eastern divisional officer

A group of political activists from the North Eastern division visited the House of Commons in February to discuss Usdaw's campaigns with MPs.

The Usdaw team chatted through union issues with MPs Meg Munn, Shona MacIsaac, Roberta Blackman-Woods, Terry Rooney, Stephen Byers, Colin Burgon and Mary Creagh before observing Parliament in session and touring the building.

The visit cemented the link between our campaigns and Parliament and everyone that came along went home with a clearer idea of how their hard work can make a difference politically.

My thanks go to political co-ordinator Jayne Shotton who organised the trip, the MPs and most of all the activists who put the time and energy in to make the day a success.
