Get ready for ADM 2008
The criminal justice system, trading hours and the health service will dominate the debates at this year’s Annual Delegate Meeting (ADM) which will be held in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
The four day conference will run from Sunday April 27 until Wednesday April 30 and it is the biggest event in the union's calendar.
More than 1,500 delegates, visitors and officials will discuss all of the major issues affecting members at work and in the wider community.
As well as all of the work-related issues like pay, employment rights and health and safety, other subjects included on the agenda will be; the environment, equality, housing, pensions, transport, disability, politics and international affairs.
In all 90 propositions appear on the preliminary agenda paper which was sent out to branch secretaries in late January.
Branches are invited to submit amendments to these propositions which have to be received at central office before Friday 29 February for inclusion in the interim agenda paper. This will be sent out in April.
Guest speakers will also play a part in the proceedings. Last year saw Gordon Brown deliver a barnstorming speech just weeks before he was elected prime minister. A high ranking politician is expected this year with details to follow nearer the time.
