Anger at job loss announcement

Home shopping giant Littlewoods Shop Direct has angered Usdaw after it announced up to 280 job cuts in addition to the 200 announced in September.

National Officer Val Pugh said: "We are very concerned at the lack of consultation in some areas and we will be challenging all of these proposals. We do not accept the company's methods and we do not accept that the formal consultation period has begun. We will keep our members informed of all developments."

The company has said that following a review of the business a further 100 jobs will be lost at the head office in Speke, 150 jobs at the Everyday Financial Solutions Sunderland site and 30 jobs at the Optimum Contact Solutions division at sites in the North West.
