New Tesco team in place

More than a hundred Tesco stores in Scotland will now benefit from a more efficient distribution service thanks to the opening of a brand new state-of-the-art depot in Livingston, West Lothian.

The new distribution centre employs more than 1,400 staff and replaces the old Dundee site.

More than 40 per cent of the products sold in Scottish stores were previously picked in England and transported across the border. The new site will mean most products will now be picked and distributed in Scotland and the operation will also supply frozen products to stores in Northern Ireland.

"With more than 70 per cent membership and a full team of trained reps now in place, we have a good base to build on," said senior rep Scott Robertson. "We also have a new team of health and safety reps waiting to be trained up. And with full induction facilities available we're confident that membership will be on the move in the New Year."
