ADM 2007: Premier performance from Gordon Brown

Chancellor Gordon Brown showed why he was everyone’s choice to be the next prime minister with a typically robust speech on Labour’s achievements and aims.

In his well-received address he congratulated Usdaw on its Freedom From Fear, Supporting Parents & Carers and Lifelong Learning campaigns. "Usdaw fights against injustice and for dignity and led the way on the campaign for the national minimum wage," he said.

"The Labour Government and Usdaw both want to help people and communities. We want to help everyone realise their potential. That's why our values of justice for all and decent public services are as relevant now as they have been in the past and will be in the future. Working together we can win a fourth Labour victory because our shared vision and principles will help us deliver justice, and fairness not just for the few, but for everyone."
