First time delegates explain why you should go to ADM
More than 1,500 delegates, visitors and officials attend the ADM which has a healthy mix of new and experienced delegates. Network spoke to three of this year’s first time delegates to find out what they thought of the union’s parliament.
Jackie Chadkirk, Northern General Retail Trades F87.
"Being on the conference floor gives you a totally different perspective. You can see how things are done close up and it's a fascinating four days. I came home full of enthusiasm and a desire to get more involved in the union. The ADM was a brilliant experience and one which members will enjoy."
Ronnie Thompson, North West Somerfield Distribution K108.
"I was encouraged to go by my senior rep. I never intended to make a speech. It looked daunting and I was nervous but after my first contribution I kept getting back up for more! I enjoyed every minute of it. You'll meet some great people, so it's well worth it."
Kiki Hardie, Liverpool Retail Dry Goods K50.
"I was a visitor in 2004, a delegate in 2005 and it's much more interesting as a delegate. You meet many other reps and get the chance to share knowledge and experiences. You can also learn a lot at the evening fringe meetings. ADM is definitely the place to be."
