Union secures jobs at DSM, Dalry

Members at the DSM factory in Dalry were celebrating last month after the union secured their jobs following intense negotiations.

The Ayrshire factory, which produces vitamin C for worldwide distribution, employs 250 workers. Usdaw officials were joined by local MP Brian Wilson and MSP Allan Wilson in the fight to keep the jobs in Scotland.

"With such a quality workforce this was a victory for common sense," said divisional officer Bruce Fraser. "There have been some job losses in the short term but over the long term this represents significant new investment in the plant."

Usdaw pledges support to staff at former Midlands Co-operative dairy plant

Usdaw has pledged to support staff at the former Midlands Co-operative dairy plant in Birmingham after it was sold to milk giant Dairy Crest who intend to merge it with its nearby Nuneaton site over the next 12 months. "We'll do everything we can for our members," said divisional officer Gary Holz.
