Violence stops trading at city store

Armed robberies, violent attacks and aggressive shoplifters have forced Midlands Co-op to close one of its stores in Birmingham.

Staff at the supermarket in the Ward End part of the city had been plagued by threats and abuse for months.

The company took the decision in early February, and the 15 members of staff have been offered other jobs in the Birmingham area.
