The union offers first-class training for members who want to play a more active part in the union as well as for newly elected and more experienced reps.

Home study courses

A three-day introductory course aimed at new shop stewards, covering issues such as the role of the shop steward, grievance and disciplinary procedures and recruitment of new members.

Shop stewards' follow-on course

A three or five-day follow-on course aimed at shop stewards who have been on the introductory course, with a more in-depth look at how to represent members.

Health and safety reps' introductory course
