ADM in brief
A Special Delegate Meeting to consider rule changes will be held during conference where delegates will be asked to consider a subscription increase and amendments to the political fund.
The Executive Council has submitted three statements for approval by ADM delegates.
- Working Time - Promoting Regulation and Protection, will be a useful guide to help tackle the long hours culture and its impact on workers' health and family lives.
- The Information and Consultation statement will explain the new regulations to be introduced in March 2005.
- The politics statement Usdaw's Political Fund - Your Union, Your Voice looks at the political fund, and why we need it. It will also provide the platform to launch the YES campaign for the political fund ballot.

Delegates and visitors are reminded of the crèche facilities available during conference for up to 30 children. The crèche is staffed by qualified childminders and caters for children between the ages of three months and 16 years of age. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis. Booking forms are available from your local official or union office and should be returned to Central Office no later than noon on Friday 26 March.
A number of fringe meetings take place in the lunchtimes and evenings of the ADM. The first is the eve of conference meeting held on the Saturday evening. This is open to all new delegates and visitors, and helps to explain how ADM works and the procedures involved. It is also an ideal opportunity for delegates and visitors to meet up and socialise together.
The other meetings and get-togethers held during the week are arranged by the women's committee, the race relations committee, the gay and lesbian network and the politics committee.
A number of evening social events are organised outside of conference hours allowing delegates and visitors to relax and socialise. These include a scouse night, youth disco, civic reception, Welsh night and the North Eastern karaoke.
Full details of these events will appear on the Usdaw web site shortly and will be carried in the March/April issue of Arena.
For more information about the ADM contact your branch secretary, rep, or local Usdaw office.
