Women

Women have always played a major role in Usdaw and make up approximately two-thirds of the membership. The union has a women's committee in each of its seven divisions and one at national level. The women's committees also provide important information to Usdaw members through a wide range of leaflets and booklets.

They are keen to involve as many members as possible in their campaigns and to ensure that women are able to play a full and active part in all Usdaw's activities. Issues of particular concern to women are top of Usdaw's agenda. These include:

  • Low pay/equal pay
  • Part-time work
  • Maternity rights
  • Sexual harassment
  • Cancer screening
  • Childcare
  • Domestic violence
The Women's Committee in your Division is looking for new members. Why not get involved.
