A briefing for negotiators on the Employment Equality (Age) Discrimination Regulations 2006Date: 24 August 2006
The Employment Equality (Age) Discrimination Regulations will come into force on 1 October 2006. This briefing paper for negotiators aims to help negotiators assess what changes need to be made to agreements to bring company terms and conditions into line with the Regulations. Usdaw's approach is to achieve equality for workers of all ages through a process of 'levelling up' rights, terms and conditions. The Age Regulations will make it unlawful for employers to discriminate, directly or indirectly, against anyone on grounds of age unless less favourable treatment can be objectively justified.
