Calling all carers

14 May 2008

Usdaw knows that carers matter. Many of our members are juggling their paid jobs with caring for an elderly, sick or disabled relative or friend.

Many carers in Usdaw are under real financial pressure because of the high, sometimes hidden, costs of caring. Working carers are very often also struggling to find hours of work that fit round their caring responsibilities.

Usdaw has been working with Government to make the case for a better deal for carers. The most effective way for us to make the case for change is through the voice of our members. We need as much evidence as possible about the pressures carers in Usdaw are under. If you are caring for someone as well as going out to work we would love to hear from you.

Please reply and tell us:

  • What are the main pressures you are under in juggling work with caring?
  • What help or support would you like from government or from your employer?
  • Are you worried about money and would you like more help with the costs of caring?

Send your responses to: parentsandcarers@usdaw.org.uk

All the evidence that we submit to Government will be anonymous and we will not use real names.

We need to hear from you by 23 May.

Thank you for your support.
