5) Help for carers

Carer's Allowance is paid to full-time carers.

You can claim if you are aged over 16 and spend at least 35 hours a week looking after someone in receipt of either:

  • Attendance Allowance.
  • Disability Living Allowance at the middle or higher rate for personal care.
  • Constant Attendance Allowance in respect of Industrial or War Disablement.
  • You cannot get ICA if you are in full-time education or if you earn more than the lower earning limit, which is currently £77.00 per week.
