The Big Care Debate28 July 2009Usdaw members are being encouraged to give their views on England's care system as part of the Government’s new consultation.
England's care and support system needs to reform in order to meet the demands of our changing society. We are living longer and have higher expectations of what public services will provide. The Government is offering everybody the chance to have their say with the Big Care Debate. They want to create a National Care Service that is fair, simple and affordable. To set this process in motion, a public consultation document or Green Paper has been published called Shaping the Future of Care Together. This spells out the options for reform - how a new system could be organised and paid for. The Government are asking everybody what they think of these options and which ones they would like to see adopted. The public consultation is running until 13 November.
