And the winner is...
All eyes were on the union’s best reps at the National Organising Awards 2007 held at a top Manchester hotel in January.
Eight national awards, known as the union's Oscars, were handed out to the lucky winners before a packed audience of divisional nominees and senior officials.
Master of ceremonies John Hannett, general secretary, his deputy Paddy Lillis, president Jeff Broome and TUC general secretary Brendan Barber presented the awards. "These awards are all about recognising the hard work and commitment of our reps across the UK," said John. "Without them we would not be the successful union we are.
"Every nominee in the room was a winner in their own right because they had been chosen as the best in their division in their particular field. The executive council elect the national winners who represent the best of Usdaw.
"This event, now in its third and very successful year, is Usdaw's way of saying a big thank you to our dedicated and energetic reps. It's also both a celebration of their individual and the union's collective success.
"Usdaw has a bright future ahead of it as long as we can maintain the enthusiasm and commitment of our reps and work as one team with the union's officials."
