Recruit a friend and win £500!

You can make Usdaw an even bigger union, make your voice stronger and more influential at work, and have the chance of winning a £500 prize if you recruit one of your work colleagues into the union.

Take the membership form printed in the Winter Arena magazine to work and sign up a friend. You can recruit as many friends, relatives or work colleagues as you like (simply photocopy the form). Ask them to fill in as much information as they can in the boxes provided. You should fill in your details in the space on the top right of the form and send it freepost to the address given on the form.

You will then be entered into the arena prize draw and you could win £500. The closing date for the draw is January 31, 2008 and the result will be announced in a future issue of arena.

Christmas bonus

Warehouseman Derek Laverty, 34, wasted no time in signing up a former agency worker at the DHL/EXEL site in Harlow, Essex, and his quick thinking won him £500 in the autumn issue recruit a friend prize draw.

"Many agency workers are reluctant to join because they are on temporary contracts," said union rep Derek. "But once they are made permanent I give them a form and they usually join.

"I was over the moon when I heard I'd won. The money will make Christmas even more special for me and my two young sons."

Shop steward Leanne Dodd is also a member of the team of reps at the depot.
