Christmas respect

Your question answered.

In retail Christmas is always very very busy and the customers are even more stressed than usual, how can we deal with this?

Christmas shopping can be a very stressful time and can lead to increased levels of abuse against staff. The way that the member of staff responds can do a lot to reduce the problem. A key message in Usdaw's Freedom From Fear campaign is the need for employers to identify the trigger points that might give rise to violence and abuse.

It would be good practice for them to provide refresher training for staff on how to handle abusive customers before the Christmas rush starts. This would help to get the message across that abuse is unacceptable, that staff should seek assistance when a situation starts to develop and that all incidents of abuse should be reported.
