Sue’s Compensation
Part-time checkout operator Sue Wood was delighted with the service she had from Legal Plus following a serious accident at her Tesco store on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent.
The 52 year-old slipped on a discarded grape and broke her kneecap in 2001. Six years later she received her compensation award.
"It was a great support knowing Usdaw was backing me all the way," said Sue. "I had consultations with medical experts and even had a barrister dealing with my case. There is no way on earth I could have afforded to pay for any of this myself.
"I was in agony after the fall and was taken to the local hospital where my leg was put in plaster from the top of my thigh down to my toes.
"It was difficult to get around, I was practically housebound and I had to sleep downstairs. I really missed walking my dogs. My family were brilliant, they helped me with all the day-to-day things and also kept my spirits up.
"It couldn't have been easier to make a claim. I filled in the BL1 form and soon after was given a solicitor who took care of everything. I had a number of medical examinations and eventually had to have an operation on my knee. It was a long process but Usdaw were with me every step of the way.
"I'd advise everyone to join. Take it from me accidents do happen and when they do you need the union's backing as I would never have been able to afford to take on such a claim by myself. Thanks to Usdaw's Legal Plus I had a full team of professionals looking after me and I received every penny of my compensation."
Remember!
Legal Plus also covers members for any accident - any time, any place - not just at work. It can also provide advice and assistance in road traffic accident cases for members' families, who share the same household.
