Recruit a friend and win £500!

You can make Usdaw an even bigger union, make your voice stronger and more influential at work, and have the chance of winning a £500 prize if you recruit one of your work colleagues into the union.

Take the membership form printed in the Autumn Arena magazine to work and sign up a friend. You can recruit as many friends, relatives or work colleagues as you like (simply photocopy the form). Ask them to fill in as much information as they can in the boxes provided. You should fill in your details in the space on the top right of the form and send it freepost to the address given on the form.

You will then be entered into the arena prize draw and you could win £500. The closing date for the draw is October 19, 2007 and the result will be announced in a future issue of arena.

A friend indeed

Morrisons deli assistant Jenny Slater signed up her boyfriend Karl Wenz and scooped the £500 recruitment prize draw.

The 22 year-old from the store in Camarthen has been an Usdaw member since going into retail after leaving college. "This is great news for me," she said. "I can now pay off my overdraft and treat myself with the remainder of the cash.

"I believe eveyone should be in the union as it offers protection to you at work. Being in the union also makes you feel more secure at work.

"I thought it would be a good idea to sign up Karl and enter the draw. I never expected to win but I'm delighted I have."

Recruitment rewarded

  • Dairy worker Anthony Parsons won £500 in the Spring (2007) issue
  • Co-op worker Linda Morrison won £500 in the winter (2006) issue
