Usdaw members can now sign up for a free home study course on pensions.
John Hannett launched the new pensions course

The course will help demystify this complex but important issue and leads to a recognised qualification. It comes hot on the heels of the special pensions section on the union's web site.
"We know our members are worried about their retirement and whether they will be able to have a decent standard of living in their old age," said general secretary John Hannett. "This course called Understanding Pensions will help members to get to grips with the details of both the state and company schemes."
The course offers a straightforward method of studying. Members will receive a resource booklet outlining all of the issues. An additional question booklet will allow members to clarify their knowledge. It is for use at home and the course materials are written in a clear and jargon-free manner. Once completed the question booklet is checked by an Usdaw official and returned directly to members.
"I'm confident members will have a better understanding of pensions once they have worked their way through the course materials," added John Hannett.
