Learn and earn

Lifelong learning is helping members to gain new skills, extra confidence and improve their career prospects.

Staff at Morrisons, Ayr, are queuing up to sign up to a variety of courses to help them improve their skills and knowledge. "There's a lot of enthusiasm at the store," said learning rep Lisa Shimmons.

Learning reps at the Shop Direct site in Chadderton, Oldham, have helped hundreds of their members sign up for courses. "The site manager has been very helpful and the workforce appreciate it," said Chan Mistry.

Learning sign language is already paying off for Tesco learning reps in Liverpool. "This is a great communication aid," said mobile rep Kathy Davis.

Lifelong learning has provided former redundant workers at Eccles, Greater Manchester, with more skills to face the future. "This has really helped," said rep James Vaughan.
