Why are you involved in the union?

I believe everyone should be part of a union. I aim to make a difference and ensure people know their rights.

What difference has Usdaw made to your life?

Usdaw has had a positive impact on my life. In particular it has helped me to understand other people's needs.

How active is the union in your workplace?

Quite active. I try and promote Usdaw in our store, and keep the notice board up-to-date with posters etc.

If you could introduce one new law what would it be?

Equal rights for young and old workers.

How would you increase membership?

By educating people about trade unions and what they do today and not what they did in the past.

What do you think is the most important issue for young workers?

To join the union and get involved. There's a lot going on in Usdaw.

Have you ever been on any Usdaw training courses and how were they?

I have been on several courses which were all well-run and very enjoyable.

Do you think children should be taught about trade unions and rights at work in schools?

Yes most certainly. Trade unions play a massive part in everyday working life.

What makes you angry/happy?

Happy - when young people are active in the union.
Angry - when youths are not listened to and dismissed because of their age.

What's a typical week for you?

I work 9-6 Monday to Friday so after work I like to chill out with a few glasses of wine. At weekends I socialise with friends. I also like to play golf with my boyfriend Shaun.

What's next for Hollie Weeks?

In the future I would like to work for Usdaw full time and make helping others my job.
