The number of burglaries increases during the summer months. Here's how you can minimise the risk of an unwanted visitor...
Surprisingly, in three out of ten burglaries thieves get in through an open door or window.
NEVER leave doors or windows unlocked.
INVEST in time switches for one or two of your lights so that it looks like you're in when you're out.
CONSIDER a burglar alarm, those connected to a monitoring service are best.
DON'T leave spare keys under a doormat or flowerpot.
FIT chains and door viewers.
KEEP desirable items out of view.
CONTACT your local crime prevention officer for advice.
